ANCIENT: “Back To The Land Of The Dead” Album Teaser Unleashed!
Norwegian extreme metal titans ANCIENT released their long awaited 7th studio album, “Back To The Land Of The Dead” on September 16th in North America via (Megadeth bassist David Ellefson’s) EMP Underground/EMP Label Group, and in the rest of the World by Soulseller Records. Today ANCIENT has unleashed a teaser video for the album.
The new album “Back To The Land Of The Dead” is a comeback for ANCIENT, 12 years after the previous release “Night Visit”. The album was recorded in 7 different locations, in Norway, Denmark, Italy and Greece, mixed in Elfo Studios in Italy, and mastered by Mika Jussila at Finnvox Studios. The album was produced by Ancient.
With Nick Barker behind the drumkit, the album is, as expected, the most aggressive and fastest album of ANCIENT, yet still with a good amount of clean guitars, and various dark atmospheres as the band is known for. The music was composed by Zel and Dhilorz. The lyrics on the album are all written by Zel, many of them speaking about the devil, the spirit of the devil and how it influences us in various devastating and destructive ways, as well as some fantasy lyrics, still somehow connected with the “old Nick subject”. The album cover shows a hooded figure coming back to “the land of the dead” to wake up the “spiritually dead people there”. The album is 66 minutes long and has 13 tracks, including a cover of Bathory “13 Candles”.
ANCIENT frontman Zel states: “Death is just the beginning… “
The track listing is as follows :
1. Land of The Dead ( Music by Dhilorz, lyrics by Dhilorz and Zel)
2. Beyond The Blood Moon (Music and lyrics by Zel)
3. The Sempiternal Haze (Music by Dhilorz, lyrics by Zel)
4. The Empyrean Sword (Music by Dhilorz, lyrics by Zel)
5. The Ancient Disarray (Music and lyrics by Zel)
6. Occlude The Gates (Music by Dhilorz, lyrics by Zel)
The Excruciating Journey
7. Part I Defiance and rage (Music by Dhilorz, lyrics by Zel)
8. Part II The Prodigal Years (Music by Dhilorz, lyrics by Zel)
9. Part III The Awakening (Music by Dhilorz, lyrics by Zel)
10. Death Will Die (Music and lyrics by Zel)
11. The Spiral (Music and lyrics by Zel)
12. Petrified By Their End (Music by Dhilorz and Zel, lyrics by Zel)
Bonus track :
13. 13 Candles (Music and lyrics by Quorthon)
The new ANCIENT line-up is featuring Zel (aka Aphazel) on vocals/guitars/keyboards, Dhilorz on guitars/bass and Nick Barker on drums. Just recently the band announced Ghiulz Borroni, esteemed shredder of extreme metal scene and lead guitarist of the legendary cult band BULLDOZER, to be the band’s live session guitarist.

Warrel Dane held a amazing concert in Belgrade with his band in club of Dom Omladine. The show was about to began, the fans were coming to see one and only Warrel Dane from Legendary metal bands Nevermore and Sanctuary. The concert had to begin at 20:30, but it started at 21:30, because of the opening act Dream Rites, the van broke down. But DreamRites made it after all, and played at Dom Omladine.
The first act was Greek heavy metal band Dream Riters. Crowd was already in large numbers at club. The band started playing, there were screaming, ovations. They played in 80’s metal style, to me they look like they transported themself’s in 21 century, mindblowing. Killer and melodic sound, badass riffs, the fans enjoy it. Each song was better than another, there were headbanging, mosh pits and a very cool atmosphere was in the air. The band went off the stage, they were satisfied with smile on their faces.
The time has come for Legendary Singer Warrel Dane with his band to play. They were extreme ovations and screaming, the female fans were crying, happy to see Warrel. The show began with intro (Precognition), and after that the first song was “Narcosyntesys”, the crowd went crazy with headbanging, mosh pits. The next song was “We Disintegrate”, the crowd reacted with ovations too, and also the same thing as reaction as in the first song, the crowd went even crazier.
The third song was “Inside Four Walls” the crowd was in trance, in some moments on the concert Warell had some comedian act moments, it was great he can be a good comedian, he interacted with fans, in a very positive way, he had on the concert a deeper connection with fans. The fourth song was “Evolution 169”, also the reactions were positive and great, the crowd sang with Warrel whole the time. The fifth song was “The river dragon has come”, crowd was in trance, enjoying the show completely. The sixth song was “The Heart Collector”, the atmosphere on the concert is heating up, and the crowd went completely nuts. The seveth song was “Engies of Hate”, crowd was still in trance looking at Warrel as God. The eight song was “The Sound of Silence”, there was screaming and singing, the crowd was one.
The ninth song was “ Insignificant”, then the apocylpse among the crowd started, there were heabanging, screaming, crowd diving. The tenth song was “Believe in Nothing”, crowd was a bit tired, but they have the power to continue to sing with Warrell and the band.
The eleventh song was “Dead Heart from the Dead World” public was excited about this song, but they were a little static at the moment, but they woke up and went insane, as usual with the every song on the concert too. Band got of the stage, the fans and crowd scream their name to get back, they got back for the first bis, and the intro came along, after that the next song there are going to play was “Enemies of Reality”, the crowd got excited, and they were in the crazy good mood again.
The Thirteenth song was “The Hanging Garden” crowd is happy but tired at the moment. Fourteenth song was “As fast as others” crowd is screaming and enjoying the song. Fifteenth song was “Brother”, crowd got emotional, the vibe and the atmosphere are fantastic. Sixteen was “When We Pray” crowd is very tired, but euphoric. The band gets off the stage again, the crowd scream their name, they gor on the stage for the second bis. Seventeen song was “August” crowd is very tired but happy, and still they are singing.
Eighteenth song was “Born” the last song for the end of the show, crowd was satisfied and very happy. The band got off the stage for sure now, leaving the fans in confused and bewildered. I can say for this concert that is was one of the most possitive and mindblowing, one of the best. Warrel Dane proved why he is the Legend in a metal scene, and a big name, but also a cool normal guy, that has his moments with fans. Amazing concert, great fun, heavy metal to the core and to the end.

In 1999 Verigo released “Violent Hateful Black Metal” and in 2002 he re-recorded a different version of it. After years of being unable of finding the right musicians, he recorded the full length “Vesterian Wants you Dead” and placed the band on hold. In 2007 Verigo reformed the band and in 2009 was unleashed a full length compilation album and a MCD “Black Metal Terror” with drummer Tomb. In 2011 came out “Black Metal Terror” and the band recorded “Anthems For The Coming War Age” with a new line-up. Short after VESTERIAN signed with Glorious North. More information on Titanfest:
Titanfest takes its name from The Underground Titans Tour ’92, a showcase tour of the finest up-and-coming underground metal bands of the era, in an unprecedented air of cooperation between bands creating what is still hailed by many as the first underground metal tour. Now, that spirit of brotherhood and unity shines through as some of the most time-hardened bands work side-by-side with the newer generation of underground bands to bring a full day’s worth of aural assault from the finest in old school thrash, metal and death metal around.
Four great bands held a awesome concert in Kragujevac at Dom Omladine. While approuching the Dom Omladine, crowd was there in a few numbers, waiting for the bands to start playing. Crowd was excited and they wanted to heard these bands rocking the house.
First band to play was Chaosium Serbian death metal, they started playing loud and very brutal, the band was in a good mood, they were jumping screaming, the crowd supported them, they were screaming with them, also they had a special guest who was a singer also, they finished the show, and they went of the stage.
The second band that was playing was Serbian thrash metal band Alitor. They had some tehnical problems, but they have solved the problem. The show began, they were furious, loud and they have pure thrash metal anger in their eyes, the crowd was jumping, headbanging, screaming and totally supporting the band. The band said Hello to Kragujevac, and how are you in some moments on the show. They went off the stage, the crowd was sreaming and happy.
The third band was Slovenian industrial metal band Abstract, this masters of insrtumental metal, rock the house literally, the frontman was in very good and positive mood, he was jumping, screaming, the crowd was sreaming with him, they were headbanging and trance moments beetween the crowd and the fans, they played loud, with style and powerful riffs. The frontman was speaking Serbian a little bit, so he communicate with the crowd very well, and he thank them for being there. The band went off the stage and they were very happy and satisfied, so were the fans and crowd too.
The fourth band was Slovenian melodic blackened death metal band Mysterious Eclipse, the band gets on the stage, and the show has began. They were very interesting, the female singer was brutal, with her amazing vocals and growls. The fans and crowd were screaming. The band played very well, they were static but its ok, the show was great. They went off the stage, and the concert was officaly over.I would like to say that this concert demonstrated the full power of underground metal bands, and their quality, how the underground scene is powerful and awesome. The concert was very good, in underground metal style.

American Pagan metal band HELSOTT is proud to announce they are recording their new EP ‘The Healer’ at Trench Studio in Corona, CA with John Haddad (Abysmal Dawn, Intronaut, Hirax) plus mixing and mastering being done by J-F Dagenais (Kataklysm, Ex Deo). The EP will be the follow up to their 2014 album ‘Woven’, which the band toured the USA heavily in support of on the Pagan Rebellion tour with Arkona and Heidevolk plus their own headlining tour.
In addition to their recording, the band has launched an indeigogo campaign with the main exclusive perk for fans being a “Limited Edition Healer Shirt” designed by Heidevolk guitarist Kevin Storm. Each shirt will have the name of the contributors and the date they contributed on the back of the shirt. HELLSOTT will also send each contributor an unreleased digital track.
American Pagan Metal? What does that mean? Americans pretending that they are Vikings?
No, Helsott is so much more than that. Lyrically, Helsott pay homage to all things pagan, not just Scandinavian Paganism. American Mythology, Scandinavian Mythology, Germanic Mythology, Ancient Egyptology, Celtic Mythology, Greek Mythology, and all things Heathen. Paganism was and still is relevant all around the world and is the main backdrop in the Theater of Helsott. Musically, if you threw Folk Metal, Death Metal, Symphonic Metal, Thrash Metal, Classical Music and Rock n’ Roll into a smelting pot and poured its contents onto the world…that world would scream Helsott. Meaning “Fatal Illness” in Teutonic, Helsott have already carved a piece of the Metal World for them-selves and plan on carving deeper with their beautifully brutal, pagan themed brand of metal for years to come.
On a National level Helsótt has toured the US and Canada with Paganfest alongside Ensiferum, Tyr, Heidevolk, and Trollfest…for Rock The Nation USA. In 2015 Helsott toured the US in support of their album “Woven” twice. The first being a summer headlining tour and the second in support of Arkona and Heidevolk on the Pagan Rebellion tour.
On a local level Helsótt has supported national and international acts such as: Finntroll, Ensiferum, Moonsorrow, Opeth, Katatonia, Trollfest, Heidevolk, Turisas, Nile, Ex Deo, Dio’s Disciples, Tyr, Korpiklaani, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Nevermore, Barren Earth, Suidakra, Eluveitie, Arkona, Alestorm, Metsatöll, Kill Devil Hill, Carach Angren, Fear Factory, Rotting Christ, Epica, Death Angel, Hate, Kampfar, Vreid, Keep of Kalessin, D.R.I., Insomnium, Omnium Gatherum, Necrophagia, 1349, Warbringer, Mayhem, Destruction, Heathen, Goatwhore, Possessed, Woods of Ypris, Decrepit Birth, Origin, Dillinger Escape Plan…and many more.
