Aktaion Reveald New Single ‘Cancer’ and Details about it

Halmstad, Sweden based metallers Aktaion have revealed details for a brand new single entitled ‘Cancer‘. Set for release 17th February 2017, this single shows a band carving their name even deeper into the stones of melodic death metal and taking their own variation of the genre one step further. The song is the result of a collaboration with Studio Haga where Aktaion recorded the single and sees guest appearances from Joey Concepcion and John Anderberg, whom also featured on the band’s second album, ”The Parade of Nature.

The band comments: “With the release of ‘Cancer‘ we are setting a new standard and starting the new, more polished era of Aktaion. We are moving into more focused territory and will continue even further in the footsteps of ‘Cancer‘ with new material in the later parts of 2017.”

Guitarist Francis Larsson also adds: “The backbone of the music for ‘Cancer‘ came together surprisingly quickly, with most of the music written during one late evening. I struggled with finding the right lyric inspiration and took several different approaches until I stumbled upon an archive of poems written during and around the First World War. One in particularly caught my attention; ‘Dulce et Decorum Est‘ by Wilfred Owen. It fit perfectly with what I felt the song needed and the emotion behind writing the instrumentals for the song. A lot of inspiration and even direct citations in the lyrics for ‘Cancer‘ comes from this poem. I searched for a long time for the ‘soul’ of this song and found it in the words of Wilfred Owen and of the lives lost whom he wrote his beautiful poems about. I think the theme of losing one’s comrades in battle and the terrors of war in general, and especially from chemical warfare as in this case, made up a perfect theme for the song.”

Aktaion sprung to life in 2015 with the release of their debut album Throne, the result of long time collaborations between the members going back to 2010. The positive reception which came from reviewers and new fans led to the initiative to take Aktaion beyond its hold up in Halmstad, Sweden. Quite eager to release new material, Aktaion went into writing mode right away. Plans to record a shorter EP in time grew into a full-length of eleven songs under the title The Parade of Nature!

After recording the second album Aktaion went out to tour the northern parts of Europe. In April, Aktaion traveled south and visited east Europe and the Balkans as part of the ‘Blood Mantra Balkan Tour 2016′ with Krysthla, Thy Disease, Hate and the legendary Decapitated. During the two week tour Aktaion visited and played a total of 13 cities in 9 countries, taking their own variation of Swedish melodic death metal with them. After the release of The Parade Of Nature the band focused on writing new material and with the release of the new single ‘Cancer‘ on the horizon, Aktaion are moving in a new and unexplored direction.

Day 3 – April 8th

Terrifier (Vancouver, BC)

The terrifically titled Terrifier brings their thrash metal apocalypse straight outta Vancouver, BC. As the Metal God himself Rob Halford memorably sang: ‘fast and furious/we ride the universe’, that very much sums up Terrifier’s dedication to the glory of thrash!

Originally known as Skullhammer, Terrifier released their debut album ‘Destroyers of the Faith’ back in 2011, so this is no flash-in-the-pan thrash band! Incorporating jackhammer drums, bulldozing bass-lines, a twin-lead attack that leaves posers pulped in its wake, and vocals that can level mountains. Terrifier’s motto could well be ‘thrashing is our business…and business is good’.

Terrifier take what has gone before, the old gods, Metallica, Slayer, and use them to birth new sounds, the old Gods are eternal, but hail the new Gods too!

Vocalist, bassist and founder member Chase Thibodeau explains Terrifier’s reason for being. ‘We formed this band because we love thrash and play what we think sounds cool…our music is fast, technical, heavy and melodic and shredding.’ Indeed, this is a band that truly puts the shred inside your head!

It’s their inspirations that drive them to create such perspiration-inducing music as Chase explains: ‘Adrenaline, speed and aggression….that’s the feeling we want to put into people….We started steering more towards an aggressive thrash sound…even being influenced by death metal!’

Their new release ‘Weapons of Thrash Destruction’ features such soon to be classics as ‘Bestial Tyranny’, ‘Skitzoid Embolism’ and ‘Nuclear Demolisher’ and ‘Sect of the Serpent’, a song inspired by Conan the Barbarian as Chase says ‘the idea was to trample the weak and hurdle the dead on this one!’

Chase sums up Terrifier’s new music: ‘We think people will enjoy this album and use our music to get pumped up for whatever life throws at them. It would be our honour to inspire others into thrash metal…the world needs more thrash!’

Terrifier’s new album ‘Weapons of Thrash Destruction’ is slated for release on January 20, 2017 via Test Your Metal Records.

W.M.D (Calgary, AB)

Formed in 2015, Calgary thrash band, W.M.D, previously known as Shrapnal, has evolved into a blistering fast thrash act that consistently destroys every performance. Their name, which stands for “When Minds Develop”, is a concept that inspires their heavy thrash metal with the idea that the developed human mind is the ultimate weapon of mass destruction. W.M.D are currently recording their debut album, so prepare yourselves for a party. These 20-22 year old maniacs don’t just destroy the stage….they destroy themselves as well!

Tessitura (Edmonton, AB)

Since 2008, Edmonton-based Tessitura have been taunting the western Canadian underground metal scene with their eclectic blend of melodic death metal, progressive music and classic thrash. They meticulously craft their unique sound by layering the edge-of-your-seat, earth-shaking guitar work of Stephan Ceña and Chris Devries, backing it up with Leillyn McColman’s up-lifting bass lines and the driving drum patterns of Gord Alexander, and finishing the sound with the dual-vocal freight train of Ceña and lead vocalist Cyn Mercredi’s powerful screams and haunting growls. Tessitura can be heard at one of their thunderous live performances, or on their current releases, ‘Savage Embrace'(2013) & ‘Battle to Eternity'(2010).

Train Bigger Monkeys (Calgary, AB)

Train Bigger Monkeys is an expression of society force fed life long corruption. Metal has a way of taking control, and TBM revels in the direction it takes them.

Formed in the winter of 2007, Train Bigger Monkeys have set out to destroy. With a sound that is both melodic and punishing, TBM has succeeded in creating music that melts faces and blasts minds. With a wide array of influences across numerous metal genres you get a taste of death, thrash, progressive, hardcore and straight up metal all rolled into one. Train Bigger Monkeys always bring an energy, technicality and a true passion to the stage that will challenge anyone not to get involved.

They have had the honour to share the stage with metal legends such as Massacre, Archspire, Incantation and Benighted, and have performed at multiple Death/Chuck Schuldiner tribute shows as well as Vernstock, Farmageddon Open Air, and Calgary Metal Fest.

With 2 full length albums under their belts (The Human Disgrace – 2012 & Divergence – 2014), and a line up that makes it look easy, the band is undoubtedly on their way to success with a sound that is constantly evolving and refining into something truly unique that can only be Train Bigger Monkeys.

Juliet Ruin (Edmonton, AB)

Juliet Ruin is a band from Edmonton, Alberta and is just the right blend of beautiful and beastly. With grooving rhythms, heavy grit, soaring solos and soulful vocals it is simply powerhouse!

Forsaken Rite is a folk metal band hailing from Edmonton, Alberta. They bring songs of great battles fought, wisdom of their ancestors, drinks, dangerous beasts and epic adventure.

We strive for honour in the heat of battle of every show, we strive for the reverence of our ancestors, for the best of times with friends and fans, for harmony with the natural world. We strive to make a name for ourselves and the music we hold dear, to be remembered as we remember those who inspire us, to show the world that there is beauty and power in the ways of old, and to herald the wondrous and magnificent realms of history, nature, mythology and fantasy.

We are Forsaken Rite, and we invite you to join us in our adventure.

Deadwound- Identity Shapes

British blackened hardcore sludge metal band Deadwound has recorded some really brutal and evil album. The main thing with this album, is that it has that old school vibe to it, as well the combination of many extreme musical genres, that makes this album very interesting for listening.

Not so good thing about it, is that the every song is almost the same. Good thing is that this album has  that raw old school sound to it, and with some evil lyrics, it has that insane evil spirit to it.

Tehnical compliance is very good, acoutic is to loud, yeah it should be, but it should be quieter, it would leave  a better impression on the audience, as well that it will present songs in the right way.

Deadwound is a band that has attitude to their music, also the music it’self is quite unusual with the combination of all the genres, so with that, this album has it’s own charm. Pure evil music, with some ocult lyrics, that will present every listener of this album a true meaning of darkness.

September Mourning Release Official Music Video for “20 Below” Off of Debut LP, ‘Volume II’

The Dark Alternative, Hard Rock Transmedia Project September Mourning have released their Official Music Video for “20 Below” off of their debut full length album, Volume II, which is out now on Sumerian Records. Originally premiered on Alternative Press, “20 Below” follows the continuing story of human-reaper hybrid ‘September’ through parallel story lines as she is pursued between two worlds.

20 Below is about ending the cycle of abuse within our own lives, whether it’s self inflicted or from an outside source. We’ve all had those relationships where someone has gotten close to us, abuses us in some way… knocks us down so hard it diminishes our self esteem. “20 Below” is about the realization that the beat down feeling and feelings of worthlessness are untrue and being caused by some external negativity. It’s about being strong enough within your own self to rise above. There are no saviors or Messiah coming to save us. There’s only the strength in our hearts and our souls, which is greater than we can even conceive. It’s great enough to be the catalyst to save our own selves if we find a way to tap into that part of ourselves. –  Said the band about the there new song.

Band Lineup:

About September Mourning:

September Mourning’s debut EP (Volume I) and comic book (A Murder of Reapers) tells an epic tale of “heartbreak, loss, pain, joy, love, redemption, but most of all, courage…” while the comic book chronicles the first chapter of her story. Produced by Sahaj Ticotin and Howard Benson, September Mourning revives the concept of rock star meets superhero. If Marilyn Manson and X-Men’s Storm had a kid, it would be September Mourning, who also cites influences as varied as Motionless In White, Disturbed, and Muse..

“For me, the project is a story, a theatrical art piece,” September explains. “Music is the backbone, but for this to work, it has to include the imagery and the narrative all symbiotically linked into the whole. Music taps into your innermost being. There’s something very intimate and personal about it.”

The character of September Mourning is a human-reaper hybrid, who feels the need to give some human souls a second chance, and thus toys with Fate. To expound on this narrative, September is working with iconic comic book artist Marc Silvestri, who started out on the original X-Men comics and went on to form Top Cow Productions (Witchblade, The Darkness). Together, they are putting together the story of September Mourning in graphic form, to accompany, and enhance the musical message.

Having toured with Marilyn Manson, September Mourning has already built up an impressive fan base, which she calls her “Children of Fate,” constantly encouraging them to have “the courage to embrace their passion… to allow yourself to follow your heart and not be a slave to your fears. To know that the only boundaries that exist in our lives are the ones we allow.”

Iron Maiden annouces ”The Book of Souls World Tour” in North America with Ghost

British heavy metal gods Iron Maiden are going of a North American tour “The Book of Souls World Tour”. The fans can enjoy in of metal’s best live acts, and it will be returning this summer for more dates on the tour, also with Swedish ocult masters Ghost  on North American tour.

Резултат слика за Iron Maiden 2017

Here is a statment of the bassist Steve Harris about this tour:

“So this year we’re able to reach many more cities in America, including a return to places Maiden haven’t played for many, many years like Lincoln, Neb., Minneapolis, Oklahoma City and Oakland, Calif. We also welcome playing in Brooklyn for the first time,” He also added: ”We will, of course, be bringing the full production with us including all the Eddies and the Maya-themed stage sets. There’s been a great reaction from everyone to this tour’s theme, people really seem to love it. We’re still deciding on the final set-list and we’ll work that out once we get into rehearsals. Most of our North American fans haven’t seen the show yet so as we want to give them the same ‘Book of Souls’ live experience that we took around the world, it’s unlikely we’ll change much. And of course we know our fans appreciate us playing a lot of the older songs too, so we will continue to do that!”

Here is the hole ”The Book of Souls World Tour‘ in America’:

So for all Iron Maiden fans, go to the shows, be metal as fuck. The Iron Maiden is waiting for you. Be there, you will have an amazing time.
