Festival co-founder Jesse Valstar comments:

“The team members of West Metal Entertainment poured their sweat and blood into making this year’s line up for Armstrong Metalfest the best year yet! A large portion of this year’s line up consists of bands who will be releasing albums in 2017. The fact that so many bands in Canada are able to write and record quality material is a real testament to the thriving metal scene we have. The band submission process is a grueling gauntlet of awesomeness, but personally I love every second I dedicate to the brilliant artists of Canadian Metal!

I am especially excited to have Revocation on this year’s edition of Armstrong Metalfest. Their style is hella fitting for the festival and I know they will be well received! Also, their album “Great Is Our Sin” is fantastic front to back. I’ll be front row center screaming my heart out for sure!

I am very proud of the work our team has put into year nine of Armstrong Metalfest. Our work is paying off, so far this year we have broken every record for ticket sales we have ever had. As a community we built this festival from the ground up. As the festival grows, so does our community. We are all proud of this big beautiful beast!”

Brian Kingsland, guitarist for South Carolina Progressive Black Metallers ENTHEAN, has joined the mighty NILE as second guitarist/vocalist. Already in ascendance after ENTHEAN’s 2016 debut album Priests of Annihilation, the Kingsland announcement is hardly surprising considering the band’s immense talent pool.
The gears of the ENTHEAN machine continue to turn, as evidenced in the following update from the band:
“Enthean will be coming out with our follow-up to 2016’s ‘Priests of Annihilation’ this year. In the meantime, our drummer, Josh Ward, is touching up the new Rapheumets Well album, while Brian is steady with Nile. We wish nothing but the best to all of our brothers in Nile and continued support for Dallas Toler-Wade and Narcotic Wasteland!”

Davey Suicide Release Official Music Video for “Too Many Freaks (Feat. Twiztid)” Off of Upcoming ‘Made From Fire’ LP

Rock band Davey Suicide has released the Official Video for the debut single, “Too Many Freaks (Feat. Twiztid),” off of their upcoming LP Made From Fire. Due out March 24, Made From Fire was Co-Produced by keyboardist Needlz and Charles Kallaghan Massabo, and was premiered on Kerrang!

There is a primordial force running though this band, a momentum that will not be held back by anything. In today’s uncertain climate, the world needs an escape, more freaks, and a reason to be excited again. There are 14 massive tracks on “Made from Fire” that fit that bill and this album breathes a new direction into a rock/industrial/nu metal genre. “We’re erecting a new kingdom of torching wrath, industrial destruction, passionate melodies, tons of charisma and a tough attitude culminating one conclusion: If there’s one Rock band out there the world really needs right now, it’s Davey Suicide.”

The name, “Suicide” is a constant reminder that unless we kill ourselves, there’s no ceiling for what we are capable of.“

Hailing from Unholywood Killafornia, Davey Suicide is cultivating the underground by fusing arena rock, gutter grit, sleaze and theatrics into their own “nu” brand of industrial rock. The band, which features Davey Suicide along with Drayven Davidson, Needlz, Niko Gemini, and Derek Obscura, distills heavy metal, industrial and punk into anthems that are as corrosive as they are catchy. “Rock fans haven’t gone anywhere,“ Suicide exclaims, “they just need a reason to fall in love again.”

MFF DS Logo copy-0

Formed in 2010, Suicide played a few huge shows in Hollywood before garnering the attention of a couple indie labels and the original manager of Linkin Park. By early 2012, Suicide signed a record deal and started extensively touring by the summer of 2012. Over the next five years, the band went on 16 tours, 330+ shows over 2 continents (with the likes of Static-X, Combichrist, Wednesday 13, Twiztid, Ill Nino, Orgy, New Years Day, William Control) and put out 3 releases including the Put Our Trust in Suicide EP (Nov 2012), the self titled Davey Suicide LP (March 2013) and the World Wide Suicide LP (September 2014). The 4th release, and 3rd full length album, entitled Made From Fire, hits shelves on March 24, 2017

Along the way, Suicide gained notable press from Kerrang Magazine as one of the Top 50 Rockstars in the World, Alternative Press’ 100 Bands You Need to Know, Revolver Magazine’s Ones to Watch, and numerous features in Big Cheese, Outburn, Substream, Scuzz TV, & Blank TV.

In the spring of 2015, Suicide and former record label locked horns in a year and a half long litigation over rights of Suicide’s albums and numerous contractual breaches. In August of 2016, Suicide released a tell-all video depicting the details of what the band and he had gone through with the label. The video turned into a media circus amassing over 1.3 million views, and reaching over 3 million people in a matter of days. Shortly after the video went viral, the lawsuit ended up getting settled. The video was then removed after the settlement.

In late August of 2016, Suicide released the empowering single, “Rise Above” which has since been added to the Kerrang TV, Scuzz TV and Kerrang Radio rotation. “Rise Above” is the first taste of their upcoming 3rd studio album entitled, Made From Fire.

On September 16, 2016, the Davey Suicide catalogue was re-released on Itunes, and all digital outlets by Suicide. Made From Fire, the 3rd studio LP, will be released on March 24, 2017. Suicide exclaims, “All of this adversity tested us and forced us to learn how to survive. It could have ended us, but instead, we’ve created our most exciting collection of material to date as a result.”

Davey Suicide’s Made From Fire incorporates the anarchistic bite of vintage Marilyn Manson with the stadium feel of Bring Me The Horizon and the epic melodies courtesy of In This Moment. Blended together with barefaced sex appeal and borderline extremism and danger, Davey Suicide has erected a new kingdom of torching wrath, industrial destruction, passionate melodies, tons of charisma and a tough attitude allowing only one conclusion: If there’s one Rock band out there the world really, really needs right now, it’s Davey Suicide.

The Power of the mighty hammer!

“Barbara Negra Club Hungary”, 31.1.2017

Hammefall held a concert in Hungary at Barba Negra club. I can say about the show, that it was something special, fans enjoyed the show, and the band demonstrated, why their are one of the best metal bands out there. The show was amazing, band had a amazing time during the show. Club was already full of people, waiting for their bands to start.

The first support act was Swedish heavy metal band Lancer. This band has that true heavy metal vibe to their music, which they presented also live on the show. Fans loved it from the start to the end, they were screaming, headbanging, supporting the band in the right way. Vocalist Isak was all over the place, with insane positive energy to it, fans enjoyed it in every way.

At some moment during their show he brought out the head of Medusa, and play with it in very interesting way. That head of Medusa is mascot from their latest album ”Mastery”, also they played the songs from this album. As the time passed, it’s was the time for the band to leave the stage, and the fans were very satisfied.

The second support act was Scotish power symphonic metal band Gloryhammer. This crazy guys, lift the atmosphere on their concert to the roof. There was a introduction at the begining of thier show, it was a story about their latest relase ”Space 1992: Rise of the Chaos Wizards”. There was a magic in the air, the fans were hypnotized by the band, they were having a time of thier life.

Troll entered the scene with a big hammer, which later  singer Thomas or the Green Lantern, took it from the Troll, and left him to cry in his agony. Fans went crazy after each song ,they were screaming, headbanging, total chaos was unleashed. This band has this amazing costumes, that are comic characters, on the show, they were like superheroes, saving a souls of the metalheads. So the show went on, the fans were in trance, they wanted more, but it was time for the stars of the night to entered the stage.

Finnaly, the mighty Swedish power heavy metal legends Hammerfall entered the stage, there were ovations, screaming, fans falling in completly trance. The best reaction were to the two songs ”Riders of the storm” and ‘‘Let the Hammer Fall”, which the audience was screaming the words out loud. Band was in the great mood, fans of the band were so happy to see them, that they bright gleam in their eyes.hammerfalles.

Singer Joacim in one moment on the concert said: ”Are you ready for real heavy metal”, and later added this also: ”I can see there are more women here then man on our show interesting”. Hammerfall continued with such a furry, and power, it seems that the power of the hammer served them well on the concert. Then he asked: Are there any newcomers here, and the almost hole club, raised there hands, as a yes to a question, he was very suprised, but in the positive way. The show goes on, the fans were got insane, and them the time has come for the Hammerfall to leave the stage, so they did it, but the fans wanted more screaming their name, and they gone back to the stage for the last time, and this was it. The fans were more than happy, tired, with smiles on their faces.

Hammerfall showed that, why they are who they are today. Amazing show, with some other amazing bands, heavy metal power, at it’s best. Trough the mighty power of hammer, no one was able to resist. Hammer has fallen, leaving his mark, on the place were it has fallen.

Here are some video clips from the concert, enjoy:

IGNEA Released “The Sign of Faith” Album!

Ukrainian oriental metal band IGNEA released their first full-length album titled “The Sign of Faith”. The LP consists of 10 diverse songs including symphonic elements, clean female vocals and brutal tracks. The majority of the tracks from the album lie within the oriental metal genre in combination with a modern sound and authentic middle-eastern melodies. However, the band doesn’t limit itself and has included two symphonic tracks including “Alga”, the most popular song from the band so far and “How I Hate The Night” with references from “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to The Galaxy“.

The video for “Alga” with a full symphonic orchestra of 45 musicians gathered over 1 million views on YouTube in just a year. The album version of the track has been remastered to preserve the sound of “The Sign of Faith”. Recently, the band premiered the video for “Şeytanu Akbar”. Despite its provocative title IGNEA carrie the message of peace.

Evgeny Zhytnyuk, composer and author of lyrics states: “What we want to say is that there is no reasonable cause to kill other people, be it regime, faith or moral principles. We mainly speak about islamic terrorism in this song, as one of the social plagues of 21st century, taking lots of innocent lives. However, this applies to every human on Earth, regardless of their religion.”

Half of the album has underlying themes of religion. The song “Petrichor” recorded with Yossi Sassi (ex-Orphaned Land) and remastered especially for the album, follows the sacrifices of a human to become divine. Metal ballad “Theatre of Denial” revolves around the theme of denying faith; “Jahi” is a demon of “lasciviousness” in Zoroastrianism, and the respective song presents the idea that darkness is something unknown and, therefore, could be genuine.

Despite their brutal sound and extensive harsh vocals performed by IGNEA’s vocalist Helle, “Halves Rupture” is a song about unrequited love. “Last Chosen by You” pays tribute to muslim women who suffer from the lack of freedom. Finally, “Alexandria” the closing track of the album revolves around themes of love, beauty and ancient wisdom. IGNEA are currently presenting the album in upcoming solo shows and festivals both in the Ukraine and abroad.

The Sign of Faith” tracklist:

1.Şeytanu Akbar

2.Alexandria Petrichor

3.Theatre of Denial Jahi

4.Halves Rupture

5.Last Chosen by You

7.How I Hate the Night Leviathan (Ultra Sheriff Cover).

DESECRATE: New Video “Nevermore” Released!

European matrix death metallers DESECRATE have released their new video “Nevermore“, directed by Ildo Brizi. The song is part of the horror movie soundtrack STRIDOR, directed by Ildo Brizi and it’s featuring in the lastest DESECRATE full length, “Orpheus“.

Watch “Nevermore” here:

The band stated:

“We are proud of the collaboration established between the band and the world of independent filmmakers of our circuit. Earlier we had the pleasure of shooting the video of the first single “To the Hades and Back” directed by Alberto Bogo. Now the collaboration born with Ildo Brizi for his horror movie STRIDOR allowed to realize this new video and we are enthusiastic!”

Formed in 1995, DESECRATE immediately became protagonist in the Italian underground scene. Their debut full-length album “Moonshiny Tales (The Torment and the Rapture)” came out in 1998 via Mephisto Records. Due to several musical disagreements, the band went to hiatus in 2001, but after nine years, in 2010, DESECRATE raised from the ashes again, releasing a new album, “XIII The Death” in 2012, via Inverse Records. The band’s sound has remained faithful to the European matrix death metal of the 90’s aggressive and scratching sonority, with several arrangement innovations which together with the constant use of the piano, create a very personal sound. Recently the band has toured in Italy, having one of the highlights the final show with Dark Tranquillity. DESECRATE‘s latest effort “Orpheus” came out in January 2015, followed by a promotional tour in Italy.
