ALBUM

Statment of the vocalist Tsaritsa :

”I had a lot of fun writing and recording Queen Of Sin – our first EP that comes out June 2nd. It has a nice diversity of rock subgenres – you can find some post-hardcore, nu-metal, alternative tunes in it. ‘QoS’ is a sort of defial for those who say rock and sex can’t go together. “Make Rock Sexy Again.” We wanted to get a mix of hard rock tunes and guitar riffs with sensual feminine vocals and dominatrix attitude.”

Call her Tsaritsa (queen) like the Russian rockers all do, or call her Moscow ,her nom de guerre in the international music scene – but you are going to call (attention to) this talented young lady who embodies the rebellious spirit of rock and the consummate class of royalty.

Young, Russian, Free and Beautiful, a 16-year Moscow (then known as Elizaveta Tursunova) struck out on her own to explore the world. Not wanting to be tied down to the wealthy young businessmen who had been trying to impress her, her young Russian schoolmates that adored her, or the rockers on the scene who hung on her every word, she fled to Cambridge, England.

Never satisfied to stay in one place or know only one way of life, Moscow traveled to and lived in London, Paris, New York and Los Angeles, growing even more bold and worldly with every stop.

From the age of 15, Moscow was a part of the Russian music scene. “In Russia, the market is dominated by cheap pop music. It is next to impossible for a rock/metal band to break out. I hung out with some really dedicated and talented people, they taught me not to give up,” Moscow remembers. “They all thought I was older – I think I celebrated my 18th birthday for 5 years straight.” When she was in Cambridge and New York, Moscow was trained in musical theater and became a triple threat – dancing, singing and acting. “Musical theater will always be in my heart. Anytime I visit Broadway or the West End, I must go see a new musical. In London, I became friends with the cast of Rock Of Ages,” she explained. She decided to bring that musical’s premise to life and become the rocker she was destined to be.

Throughout her travels, there was something missing… something she found in Los Angeles. The Sunset Strip music scene spoke to her sense of rock history and her musical style. Having read about all her favorite artists’ lives in Los Angeles (Motley Crue, Steven Tyler, Slash) the Sunset Strip seemed surreal to Moscow. It was there that she put down roots to record her material and the “Queen of Sin” video. Her approach is summed up by her quote “In popular music, I believe it’s time to look back to our roots – the richness of Muddy Waters, the theatricality of Alice Cooper, the romanticized excess of Motley Crue – and combine what we learn from them with a 21st century outlook,” says Moscow.

The team of Shawn McGhee (Hideout StudiosHellyeah, Five Finger Death Punch, Papa Roach) and Brian Steel Madina (Gemini Syndrome) produced “Queen of Sin.’ “Working with Moscow was straight fire. From the moment she walked in the studio we knew she had something amazing to offer,” says producer, Shawn McGhee. “She has the attitude and the talent to back it up,” adds co-producer, Brian Steel Madina. “It’s refreshing to work with someone who has such a clear vision of her endgame. Moscow is a force to be reckoned with.”

She collaborated with RAGE (Trivium, Hatebreed, Escape The Fate) on the ”Queen of Sin” video ,making it an epic presentation of her talent, power and beauty.

”She fit her name, one would think she’s already toured the world several times and have sold a few million albums… On set she was fearless, her natural charisma just overwhelms you…even my crew, some of whom are just hip hop heads, as well as some of the background talent were all asking for her autograph and wanting pictures by the end of the day,” explains RAGE. “She was transforming herself in that very moment and it was with no effort, because in my opinion not only is MOSCOW ready to sneak attack the world of rock and metal but she is truly and wonderfully…’The Queen of Sin’. ”

Just breaking into her 20s and breaking into the music world, she is wise beyond her years. “We all have God and the devil in us. That is where the spark for ‘Queen of Sin’ came from,” she explains. That spark is destined to set the rock world afire in 2017!

Selfmachine Confirmed for “Metaldays Festival”!

Wormhole death is proud to announce that Selfmachine have been confirmed to play at Metaldays Festival” in Tolmino, Slovenia. Selfmachine have just released their sophomore album “Societal Arcade” which they will perform almost entirely at the festival!

Band statement:

“Playing the Metal Days festival is an absolute dream come true!” States bass player Mark Brekelmans. “The lineup is always amazing and add to that one of the most beautiful locations possible and you see why Metal Days is one of the best and nicest festivals in Europe. We can’t wait to storm the stage and get some people moving to the Selfmachine groove!”
About the band:

Selfmachine is a metal band that likes to do things their own way. Tey skipped the demo stage and went straight ahead to record a full-length album. Their boldness paid off: ”Broadcast Your Identity”was released globally through Wormholedeath/Aural music in 2014. The album received a ton of positive reviews and was awarded ‘Dutch release of the year’ by website ”Global Metal Apocalypse”.

Selfmachine embarked on their first European Tour supporting metalcore masters The Agonist in March 2015. The experience of playing 18 shows in 20 days in 11 different countries blew their minds, making them even more determined to pursue world domination. Feeling they achieved everything they could with their “first demo” they set out to record their sophomore album.

Societal Arcade” will see the light of day in March 2017, again through Wormholedeath Records. The album touches a broad range of topics, with the overall concept of dealing with the structures that make up our modern society. Life is a game and we play it while simultaneously being played. Like a pinball that gets nudged around, trying to claim achievements and desperate to score.

As suggested by their label, the band travelled to Langhirano, Italy to record at Realsound Studios. The serene mountain landscape and exquisite pizza restaurants there gave the band the perfect focus to take their performance to the “next level”. That term gets thrown around a lot, but it this case it applies: ‘Societal Arcade’ is a huge step forward from its predecessor. This can also be attributed to the fact that the album was mixed and mastered by legendary producers duo Waldemar Sorychta and Dennis Koehne (Moonspell, Samael, Grip Inc.).

No automatic alt text available.

After the release of the new album the band will tour Europe again, starting in April 2017 (together with Koronal, Fractal Universe and Unprocessed) and record several music videos. Selfmachine has also recently been confirmed for the MetalDays 2017 Festival in Tolmin, Slovenia. More tours and shows are currently being planned. Selfmachine plans to promote ”Societal Arcade” until the wheels come flying off!

So put on your dancing shoes and prepare to get run down by that fat funky monster truck called Selfmachine!
