Frontiers Music Srl To Release “The Dark Element” featuring Anette Olzon former Nightwish vocalist and Jani Liimatainen November 10th, song ”Dark Element” is available for streaming!

“The Dark Element” is a new musical project fronted by the former Nightwish vocalist Anette Olzon together with Finnish guitarist and songwriter Jani Liimatainen. The combination of these two talents promises to deliver a debut album that will be a huge statement in the European metal scene.
Since word of this project got out, fans have been frothing at the mouth with anticipation for its arrival. And no wonder considering the talent involved! Anette is widely known for being the immaculate voice on the hit albums from Nightwish, “Dark Passion Play” and “Imaginareum“. Jani has recently been busy in Cain’s Offering alongside Stratovarius singer Timo Kotipelto, but left a deep mark on the minds of all power metal fans thanks to his time in Sonata Arctica.
Anette Olzon and Jani Liimatainen  stated this about their collaboration:
Jani Liimatainen: “I have always been a big fan of Anette’s voice and when the opportunity to work with her arose, writing and producing an album, it was something I just couldn’t say no! It has been a blast working on the songs and I can’t wait for everyone to hear the final result. This will be epic! The songs are extremely melodic and to the point. My goal has been to write catchy songs with hooks that will haunt your dreams, and I think it’s pretty much ‘mission accomplished’. Stay tuned for something special!
Anette Olzon: “I am so looking forward to this album and I believe our collaboration worked like a perfect match and I am really happy that Jani and Frontiers asked me to do this with them!”

SEPTICFLESH by Stella Mouzi

SepticFlesh are painting an apocalyptic vision and make full use of their impressive musical palette consisting of death metal and orchestral colours on their tenth full-length  ”Codex Omega”.

From their alpha EP ”Temple of the Lost Race” that was released one year after their founding in 1990, the Greek musicians have pushed the limits of the metal genre and continued to explore new sonic path with every following release from their debut album ”Mystic Places of Dawn” (1994) to the stunning ‘Sumerian Daemons’ (2003), which have in the meantime all been re-issued by Season of Mist.

Yet  SepticFlesh had clearly come into their own sound when they unleashed their celebrated comeback album after a five-year hiatus that re-charged their artistic batteries. ”Communion” (2008) offered a well-balanced amalgamation of metal elements that were freely drawn from the darker side of the genre including death, black, and gothic metal with epic orchestral arrangements. This symphonic excellence was based on guitarist Christos Antoniou bringing to bear the fruits of his academic studies of classical composition, which he passed with honours and distinction.

With a clear musical compass to navigate, SepticFlesh continued to explore their sound and the compositional possibilities of this new-found metal continent. ”The Great Mass” (2011) and ”Titan” (2014) saw the Greeks evolving at fast speed and at the same time gathering adherents as well as critical praise in ever growing numbers. Extended touring on both sides of the Atlantic and performances at about every important festival further consolidated the bands burgeoning status.

Although the biblical omega marks the end, SepticFlesh on the contrary are reaching their current peak with ”Codex Omega”, an album that clearly witnesses the Greek visionaries having come to maturity and expert craftsmanship in every sense.

SepticFlesh are the undisputable masters of symphonic death metal and ”Codex Omega”is the perfect proof for this bold statement.

SEPTICFLESH collector's box version 1
Seth from SepticFlesh will be joining a Reddit AMA to discuss ”CodexOmega” tomorrow, Friday 1st of September at 22:00 Eastern European, 21:00 Central European, and 20:00 British Summer Time.

You can’t talk about the true greats of folk-inspired melodic death metal without reverent mention of Ensiferum, and with ”Two Paths” they once more affirm their place in the pantheons of the genre. Further building upon the thrilling metallic hybrid honed across six full-lengths, ”Two Paths‘ is simultaneously the Finnish quintet’s most epic and far-reaching collection and their most organic, which definitely sets it apart from the pack. Additionally, the album literally takes the concept of ”Two Paths” to heart, with two different versions of standout tracks ”Don’t You Say” and ”God Is Dead”.

Statment of the bassist/vocalist Sami Hinkka about the band:

Even though Ensiferum has always had clean vocals and choirs, harsh vocals have been the main style, and those songs worked so well with both styles that we decided to include both versions,

Sami Hinkka. with Mikko P. Mustonen are again handling orchestral arrangements and Lassi Logren returning to play nyckelharpa and violin on a few songs, Hinkka is also more than happy that they brought “more bombastic orchestral and down to earth folk aspects” to the record, further fleshing out their vision. This also applies to the contribution of Gyula Havancsak, who provided the artwork for both ”Two Paths”and its predecessor ”One Man Army”.

Statment about the artist who worked on their cover for the album:

It was really nice to work with him again because he always wants to hear our ideas and then he adds his own magic and improvements to them, and the result is always astonishing.

Vulture Industries unleash new music video for ”Something Vile”!

Vulture Industries are premiering the third song taken from their forthcoming album, ”Stranger Times”, which has been scheduled for release on September 22nd.

The track “Something Vile” is presented in the form of a monstrous video, which has been created by renowned Romanian visual artist Costin Chioreanu and is now available for streaming, which can be freely used and spread.

Frontman Bjørnar E. Nilsen stated this about the new video:

“The track ”Something Vile” was a bit of a tough nut to crack, but in the end it turned into one of the most immediate songs on our new album. ‘Something Vile’ features the first ever lead vocals in Vulture Industiries by another band member, namely guitarist Eivind, adding an extra dimension to this song.

The basic idea for the video was conceived on a sleepless night three day before the filming was scheduled to start. It tuned out extremely hard to get hold of the correct outfit on such a short notice. We finally got hold of one in a child’s size, which forced us to change the designated lead actor for a smaller one who would fit into the costume. Luckily, my girlfriend was up for the task and turned out to be perfectly suited for the role. Enjoy!”

The band stated this about the tour :

“This will be our most ambitious tour to date and we are of course looking enthusiastically forward to visit all of our favourite places and people again. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to present material from our new album ‘Stranger Times’ in concert format. We will of course supplement this with favourites from our catalogue. We much appreciate everyone, who has requests for a song or two to stop by our Facebook and drop us a comment. Please feel cordially invited to let us know what you want to hear!”

Vulture Industries have previously released the artwork of ”Stranger Times‘, which has been created by Costin Chioreanu and can be viewed together with the track-list below.

The metal scene seems mired in stagnation all too often these days. The tenth edition of the great thrash revival, the never-ending race to be more brutal or more technical or more dissonant in death metal, and the rampant nostalgia of an ever-aging scene do not provide the necessary ingredients for progress and out of the box thinking. That is the very reason why rare bands such as Vulture Industries are so important.

The Norwegians fourth album ”Stranger Times” continues and expands the band’s quest to push the limitations of genre and sound. Their nine new tracks are as easily as masterfully spanning a wide range from dark rock to progressive-experimental metal, while keeping their wild roaming within the boundaries of the band’s unique and bizarre sonic universe. Yet Vulture Industires manage to harness their bold mix into recognisable structures and meaningful songs throughout that do not shy away from catchiness and, quite importantly, do not fall into the trap of being weird just for the sake of experimentation.

Vulture Industries have emerged from the vibrant rock and metal scene of Bergen, the unofficial capital of Norway’s west coast. Mostly associated with black metal, its rich music sphere in fact covers bands from all styles and directions.  Vulture Industries drew inspiration from diverse acts such as Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Arcturus , Devin Townsend, Ved Buens Ende and The Cult, when they started out under the Dead Rose Garded moniker in 1993. After several line-up changes, the new name Vulture Industries was adopted in 2003 and two demo releases quickly followed  ”The Sleeper” (2003) and ”The Enemy Within” (2004).

Having stirred considerable interest in progressive circles, it was time to present their first official recording with the Ep ”The Benevolent Pawn” (2005). Consisting of current and former members of Sulphur, Black Hole Generator, Malice  In Wonderland, and SyrachVulture Industries shouldered their way past the then-inactive Arcturus and the drifting Ulver towards the throne of Norwegian dark progressive metal with their two albums ”The Dystopia Journals” (2007) and ”The Malefactor’s Bloody Register” (2010). The eclectic band from Bergen was more than ready to engage with avant-garde metal fans worldwide, which their next full-length ”The Tower”aptly proved in 2013. This release saw expanded touring and more performances at prestigious festivals around the globe.

2. As the World Burns (5:22)

6. My Body, My Blood (2:27)
7. Gentle Touch of a Killer (5:03)
8. Screaming Reflections (5:32)
9. Midnight Draws Near (5:20)

Now Vulture Industries are presenting their most concise and compelling output so far. ”Stranger Times” is made out of hard-won experience and burning passion. Tune in, zone out, and enjoy!

The album was recorded in 7 different locations, in Norway, Denmark, Italy and Greece, mixed in Elfo Studios in Italy, and mastered by Mika Jussila at Finnvox Studios. The album was produced by Ancient.

With Nick Barker behind the drumkit, the album is, as expected, the most aggressive and fastest album of Ancient, yet still with a good amount of clean guitars, and various dark atmospheres as the band is known for. The music was composed by Zel and Dhilorz.

The lyrics on the album are all written by Zel, many of them speaking about the devil, the spirit of the devil and how it influences us in various devastating and destructive ways, as well as some fantasy lyrics, still somehow connected with the ”old Nick subject”. The album cover shows a hooded figure coming back to “the land of the dead” to wake up the ”spiritually dead people there”. The album is 66 minutes long and has 13 tracks, including a cover of Bathory ”13 Candles”.

Ancient line-up:
Zel (aka Aphazel) on vocals/guitars/keyboards
Dhilorz on guitars/bass
Nick Barker on drums

Arch Enemy released new music video for ”The Eagle Flies Alone”!

Swedish melodic death metal monsters Arch Enemy released ”The Eagle Flies Alone”, which was taken from the upcoming album ”Will To Power”, and it is going to be released on Sept 8th, via Century Media Records/Savage Messiah Music!

This song and video are quite interesting, they have that apocalyptic vibe. Lyric part is just about the pain and fight of one individual. Powerful riffs and hypnotic melodies are perfectly combined with lyrics. Alissa done it this time too, with amazing vocals. Magic solos that  will on the first listening, blow your mind and soul. Pure melodic destruction.
