CADAVERIA released brand new edition of ”Far Away From Conformity” album remixed and remastered!

CADAVERIA revealed the cover artwork and the release date of 2017 edition of ”Far Away From Conformity”, the second album of Italian horror metallers, originally released in 2004. The album will be out on December 8th, in all digital stores, and on CD, with a new graphic design. It comes out in deluxe digipack version with a twelve-page booklet via Sleaszy Rider Records.

The colored vinyl version will be released via Shadows Records in a limited edition of 300 hand-numbered copies worldwide. The vinyl LP will be out on January 12, 2018, exactly fourteen years after the first release. This is not just a reprint: the nine songs of ”Far Away From Conformity”, including Blondie’s cover ”Call Me”, have been completely remixed and remastered for the occasion. In addition, a bug in the backup of the original recordings made in 2003, had caused the loss of some vocal tracks and it requested CADAVERIA’s recent effort to re-record her voice for the songs ”Blood” and ”Confusion” and ”The Divine Rapture”. A different and renewed edition, therefore, for the album that, since its title, proclaimed the personal style of   CADAVERIA music.

About Worhol:

Worhol formed in 2013 when lead singer Ashley Worhol and her father Larry Worhol decided they wanted to follow their dream together as a team. Both having degrees in music and a classical background, they knew that they had the knowledge it would take in writing their style of music. Worhol’s music can be best described as symphonic and theatrical with Larry being the guitarist as well as the orchestral composer and Ashley being professionally trained. Since Ashley and Larry are kin to Andy Warhol they decided to keep the band name in the family. Once Worhol was set they reached out and found the rest of the members of the band; Craig Malinowski (bassist) and Marty Naul (drummer).

Over 2013, the band produced their first music video and started writing compositions for their first album. Over the next few years, they participated in several music festivals as well as touring throughout the south and the UK. During that timeframe, the music video got attention when Houston Press announced it was ranked third out of the Houston area. The attention continued as they gave several radio interviews and appeared live on Great Day Houston with a musical performance. All the attention led to the band signing with Imminence Records and setting the release for The Awakening for this summer.

Gorguts bassist releases play-through video for their album ”Pleiades’ Dust”!

Colin Marston has released a remarkable play-through video for the complete ”Pleiades ‘ Dust” EP via his own YouTube channel.

Disclaimer: Season of Mist is not responsible for any entangling or other damage to your fingers if you are trying to replicate his playing.

Gorguts’ latest, highly acclaimed latest EP ”Pleiades’ Dust”, which consists of one epic track is still available in various formats via the Season of Mist shop.

The artwork of the EP that contains only its epic title track was created by renowned Polish artist Zbigniew M. Bielak

Canada’s long-running and much-loved craftsmen of technical death metal are returning with a 33-minute song. Entitled ” Pleiades’ Dust ” this complex, image-evoking, and masterly arranged eponymous track fills an entire EP. Expect the unexpected, when it comes to Gorguts.

In an age of a postulated clash of cultures, mastermind Luc Lemay delivers a piece of music that is conceptually and lyrically based on the ”House of Wisdom”, a medieval library based in Baghdad and at the heart of the Golden Age of Islam with its many scientific breakthroughs in various fields of learning.

Vocalist and Guitarist Luc stated this:

“It is a story about curiosity, beautiful minds and sadly, about how man destroys great discoveries and achievements.” Musically there is more narrative feeling as each section is introduced in such a way that every riff has the space to evolve like a character in a story.”

Few extreme bands can boast the pedigree of Gorguts. During their early days as part of death metal’s first wave, they created a legacy of legendary releases including their debut album ”Considered Dead ”(1991) and its more experimental and technical follow-up ”Erosion of Sanity” (1993). After a hiatus of five years, Luc Lemay returned with a new line-up, which released the highly acclaimed and seminal third full-length ”Obscura”(1998). By then Gorguts had been busy at expanding and redefining the language of death metal. With a new line-up that left Lemay as the sole original member, the next milestone album was released under the title ”From Wisdom to Hate ” (2001).

GORGUTS picture by Jimmy Hubbard

Yet again the band went into hibernation, while their musical legacy continued to inspire and thrive as their native Quebec became a focus for technical death metal with acts such as CryptopsyNeuraxis, and Beyond Creation to name but a few following in their footsteps. After more than a decade of silence, mastermind Luc Lemay unleashed ”Colored Sands” (2013) with an all-star line-up including Colin Marston(Behold The Arcotpus), Kevin Hufnagel (DYSRHYTHMIA), and John Longstreath (OriginSkinless), who has in the meantime been replaced by Patrice Hamelin (Quo VadisBeneath The Massacre).

Now Gorguts return with their most experimental song so far that combines all their virtues into one massive masterpiece. Lean back and listen carefully!

Season of Mist Records recently announced the signing of eclectic Icelandic independent/folk rock act Árstíðir  .

ÁRSTÍÐIR by H. Sveinsson

Árstíðir have emerged from the burgeoning Icelandic music scene in 2008 when the three founding members coming from different genres discovered their mutual love for vocal harmonies. Daniel, Gunnar, and Ragnar quickly went from playing acoustic cover versions to their own sonic footprint amalgamating influences from classical, folk, rock, and minimalist music into something quite unique, which might be carefully dubbed “Icelandic independent”.

With early lyrical references pointing towards the spectacular nature and scenery of this volcanic island and the strongly contrasting moods of its seasons, the band took the name Árstíðir , which means “seasons” in their native Icelandic tongue.

At home, the band experienced a fast rise. Only four months after their conception, Árstíðir had risen from performing in a coffee shop in Reykjavik to scoring a number one hit on national radio with the track “Sunday Morning”.

The Icelanders published their eponymous debut, ‘Árstíðir’ in summer 2009, and while their home country was reeling from the market crash, the bands stocks went up. During the air traffic disrupting eruption of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano. a first international tour started that led to Árstíðir continuing to tour relentlessly over the next years and gather a dedicated fan base in more than 30 countries.

Their second album, ‘Svefns Og Vöku Skil’ followed in 2011 and only a year later, the Icelanders won the prestigious Eiserner Eversteiner European Folk Music Award in Germany. While on the road in Germany in 2013, a friend of Árstíðir recorded an impromptu performance of the old Icelandic hymn, “Heyr Himna Smiður” in a train station, which went viral on YouTube and has attracted more than 6 million views by now.

Backed by global interest sparked by this viral hit, Árstíðir continued their headlining tours and furthermore supported Swedish band Pain of Salvation and Dutch vocalist Anneke van Giersbergen.

Árstíðir launched a highly successful crowdfunding campaign in 2014 to finance the recording of their third full-length Hvel, which translates as “spheres” and following its release, the band embarked on a first US tour that reached from coast to coast.

A collaboration with Anneke Van Giersbergen followed in 2016. The album, ”Verloren Verleden” contains a collection of re-imagined traditional and classical songs.

Currently,  Árstíðir are working on their forthcoming fourth album, which will be released through Season of Mist Records worldwide in 2018.

Out Now! Quebec City Folk Metal Nordheim Unleash “RapThor”, an album about bacon and dinosaurs!

Nordheim‘s philosophy is a simple one, to make fun folk metal, which is evident in their previous releases “Refill” (2013), “Lost In The North” (2010) plus being Wacken Metal Battle Canada finalists in 2015. Returning in 2017, this quartet of dungeon and dragons enthusiasts are unleashing their latest offering “RapThor”, now available as of November 24th. Influenced by bands such as Finntroll, Ensiferum, Kalmah and Wintersun, Nordheim ‘s third studio album is eight tracks dedicated to the epic flavor of bacon, the colossus power of dinosaurs and more with such titles as “Troll Riding A Raptor”, “Boobs And Bacon” and “Dragonthorn”.

Vocalist/guitarist Warraxe stated this about their album:

“We want to give the fans one of the heaviest and nastiest folk metal albums to date with ‘RapThor’. It is different from our first two. We had great feedback when we played the songs live. This album is the heaviest of them all while cutting back on the European folklore influences. It’s the result of our hard work over the last few years. It is super-heavy party music!”

As the Quebec City band plans show dates for 2018, they wants fans to really know their sense of fun.

The statement about their shows and the atmosphere on them:

“When we play live it’s a frickin’ party! We move a lot, scream, hump the air, we drink from the fans’ beer bottles and in turn, we feed them beer, with the help of our friends and roadies coming up on stage and pouring beer in their faces. Usually between songs I’ll be making jokes about anything I can think of, as long as it’s dumb and incoherent! We have a strong sense of ‘bro-ness’ with our fans!”

“RapThor” is now available in digital and CD on iTunesCD BabyBig Cartel.
