ÁRSTÍÐIR by Hörður Sveinsson

Season of Mist recently announced the signing of Árstíðir . The eclectic Icelandic independent / folk rock act will release their much anticipated next album through Season of Mist in 2018.

The band commented: “We have admired bands associated with Season of Mist for years. In our minds, this label represents quality and artistic integrity. It has that aura which tells you that it is all about the music, that the bands are the real deal, and not just grist to the grinding mill of commercial music. And that is the kind of label, you want your music on. We feel a kinship with the good people and artists at Season of Mist, and we are proud be a part of this family.”

Árstíðir have emerged from the burgeoning Icelandic music scene in 2008, when the three founding members coming from different genres discovered their mutual love for vocal harmonies. Daniel, Gunnar and Ragnar quickly went from playing acoustic cover versions to their own sonic footprint amalgamating influences from classical, folk, rock, and minimalist music into something quite unique, which might be carefully dubbed “Icelandic independent”.
With early lyrical references pointing towards the spectacular nature and scenery of this volcanic island and the strongly contrasting moods of its seasons, the band took the name Árstíðir, which means “seasons” in their native Icelandic tongue.

At home, the band experienced a fast rise. Only four months after their conception,  Árstíðirhad risen from performing in a coffee shop in Reykjavik to scoring a number one hit on national radio with the track “Sunday Morning”.

The Icelanders published their eponymous debut,Árstíðir in summer 2009, and while their home country was reeling from the market crash, the bands stocks went up. During the air traffic disrupting eruption of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano. a first international tour started that led to Árstíðir continuing to tour relentlessly over the next years and gather a dedicated fan base in more than 30 countries.

Their second album, ”Svefns Og Vöku Skil” followed in 2011 and only a year later, the Icelanders won the prestigious Eiserner Eversteiner European Folk Music Award in Germany. While on the road in Germany in 2013, a friend of  Árstíðir recorded an impromptu performance of the old Icelandic hymn, “Heyr Himna Smiður” in a train station, which went viral on YouTube and has attracted more than 6 million views by now.

Backed by global interest sparked by this viral hit, Árstíðir continued their head-lining tours and furthermore supported Swedish band Pain of Salvation and Dutch vocalist Anneke van Giersbergen.

Árstíðir launched a highly successful crowdfunding campaign in 2014 to finance the recording of their third full-length ”Hvel”, which translates as “spheres” and following its release, the band embarked on a first US tour that reached from coast to coast.

A collaboration with Anneke Van Giersbergen followed in 2016. The album, ”Verloren Verleden” contains a collection of re-imagined traditional and classical songs.

Currently,  Árstíðir are working on their forthcoming fourth album, which will be released through Season of Mist worldwide in 2018.

Hirax is an American thrash metal band beginning in 1984 under the leadership of vocalist Katon W. De Pena (founding member). The band was an early example of the thrash metal, speed metal and crossover. Hirax is based in Los Angeles but, at that time, because of the weak metal scene in their area, they spent most of their time playing in San Francisco along with Slayer, Metallica, and Exodus, who were all part of the exciting new metal emerging from the Bay area. They released a four-song demo in 1984. This demo was widely circulated and the band became known and respected worldwide through the metal tape trading underground. Since then Hirax has released 5 full length studio albums and multiple EPs and has toured the world including many festivals in South America, Europe, Japan, Scandinavia, and the U.S.A.

Death Metallers Incantation released new music video “Messiah Nostrum” Via Revolver!

Vertigo-inducing death metallers Incatation  have unveiled their brand new video for the track “Messiah Nostrum“, taken from the band’s forthcoming album, ”Profane Nexus”. The video is streaming exclusively via Revolver.

Cover art, titled ”Draping The Tar Monster” by Eliran Kantor.

Here is the statment of drummer Kyle Severn about Don Taylor-directed video:

“Our second offering off of our new album Profane Nexus, ”Messiah Nostrum”, is about world religion and prayer culminating at a point in the cosmos before time, creating a messiah. This messiah’s only desire is to destroy what created it. The performance was filmed by Don Tyler, who captured the darkness of the song perfectly.”

Check out the Official 360 Visualizer Video for the “Rites Of The Locust” here, enjoy it

Incatation  triumphantly return to their original label Relapse Records to vomit forth another unholy offering of godless abominations on ”Profane Nexus”, their formidable tenth full-length album. Embodying a dizzying array of blasphemous tracks – culminating in sacrilegious conquests, crushing dirges, and vile riffing ”Profane Nexus” is an obliterating-ly heavy execution of disgusting death metal that further solidifies the band as one of extreme music’s most influential and consistently hailed artists of the past thirty years.

Check out Guitar Playthrough for the ”Rites Of The Locust” here, enjoy it:

Recorded at the band’s own Incantation Studios in Johnstown, PA and mixed/mastered by Dan Swanö (Bloodbath, Asphyx, Dark Funeral), ”Profane Nexus”’ is perhaps the finest example of pummeling death metal and disemboweling funeral doom ever conceived.

Cradle Of Filth revealed the details about the new upcoming album ”Cryptoriana-The Seductiveness Of Decay”, and the dates for the ”Cryptoriana World Tour”!

British metal gods Cradle Of Filth announced the release of  their 12th studio album, which will be entitled ”Cryptoriana The Seductiveness Of Decay.

Сродна слика

Frontman Dani Filth stated this about the new upcoming album :

”The album is deeply infused with Victorian gothic horror and thus the title is a reflection of that.

“Cryptoriana’ implies the Victorian’s infatuation with the supernatural, the grave and the ghoulish. And the subtitle ‘The Seductiveness Of Decay’ further cements this attraction to death and the glittering lengthy process of self-annihilation.

In addition, Cradle Of Filth have announced a UK and Ireland tour which will get under way at Belfast’s Limelight on October 30 and wrap up with a set at Bristol’s Bierkeller on November 11.

“We, as a band, are incredibly excited about hitting the UK and Ireland for a full run of dates around All Hallows Eve , as playing the band’s home country is always great fun and the audiences here are very receptive. And nuts.

“The dates will be the first in a long line of shows that will extend throughout the rest of the world throughout 2018.

“We aim to be very prolific on the live front, delivering a show worthy of our fan’s exalted expectations and more.”
