Swedish Death Metallers LIK sign to Metal Blade Records!

In the dirt where fallen icons lay to rest, the maggots and seeds spawned in 2014 a new creation. This took the ugly form of LIK, which fittingly means corpse in Swedish. An un-dead creation which offers a plate of savory old school death metal.

Metal Blade Records welcomes LIK to their roster.

Statement of the band about the collaboration with Metal Blade Records: “The huge impact Metal Blade has had on the scene is something you can’t overlook and being a part of this family is a ‘pinch yourself to see if you’re dreaming’ scenario! We can’t stress enough about how psyched we are and it’s just another sign that no-frills death metal is still alive and breathing!

Walking the earth for three cold winters, and with the first offer named ”Mass Funeral Evocation”, it’ll have a sister released in May of 2018.

LIK has no passage as this entity is devoted to make a permanent mark on those who lay down their souls to Rock’n’Roll. The possessed souls to carry out the sonics are Tomas Åkvik (Guitar/Vocals), Niklas Sandin (Guitar/Bass) and Christofer Barkensjö (Drums).

Hamferð releases third song ”Stygd”!

Doomster Hamferð from the Faroe Islands will release their new album ”Támsins likam” this Friday, January 12th, via Metal Blade Records!

The band has now released the third single taken off ”Támsins likam”, please surf over tometalblade.com/hamferd to listen to ”Stygd”!

At the same location, you can watch the lyric video for the first single ”Hon syndras” as well as the production video for the 2nd single ”Frosthvarv”! Make sure to check out the pre-order section, you can purchase ”Támsins likam” in the following formats:

–jewel case-CD
–180g black vinyl
–dark grey marbled vinyl (EU exclusive – limited to 300 copies)
–pastel violet marbled vinyl (EU exclusive – limited to 200 copies)
–milky clear vinyl (EU exclusive – limited to 200 copies)
–transparent blue vinyl (TUTL exclusive – limited to 100 copies)
–light grey black marbled vinyl (US exclusive – limited to 200 copies)

Roughly translated as ”Body of the mist”,Támsins likam is an attempt to create the most intriguing, honest and unique Hamferð experience yet. It is nothing less than a pinnacle; a culmination of many years of refining both sound and songwriting, spearheaded by a strong desire to keep progressing and expanding. This has resulted in an album bustling with elements ancient and familiar, violent and strange, earthen and spectral – all the while fiercely seeking to surprise and move the listener.

Once again recorded in Studio Bloch in the Faroe Islands, but this time mixed by the legendary Swedish sound wizard Daniel Bergstrand in his Dugout Productions studio, Támsins likam’ exhibits a rawer and more mature version of the known Hamferð sound. The somewhat harsh and bare soundscape deliberately contrasts with the refined compositions, while at the same aligning with the increasingly honest and violent lyrical content.

“Faroese doom metal” is a powerful sound. Exclusive to this self-styled tag is Hamferð. For a near decade, the funeral dressed sextet has been casting a unique expression rooted in conceptual tragedy and intense, narrative doom metal.

Faroese history and folklore are mixed together with grand atmospheres, a trademark that has earned worldwide attraction. Stages at festivals such as Inferno, Midgardsblot, Tuska, Summer Breeze, Wacken and much more have been turned into funerary ceremonies.

Touring with bands like Amorphis and Moonsorrow has further garnered the band a respected reputation due to strong yet solemn live performances.

The lyrical and conceptual approach is ambitious in scope. People are drawn to it, even though the band sings in their native tongue, Faroese. With a highly engaging idea concerning lyrics and songwriting, the hour has arrived to close a conceptual trilogy which commenced with the 2010 EPVilst er síðsta fet’, continued with the internationally acclaimed 2013 full-length album ”Evst, and is now concluded with ”Támsins likam”.

Deströyer 666 continue to do what they are best at kicking ass and hammering out heavy metal that is slamming straight into the face. No compromise, no sell out, no bullshit!

The Australians fill the gap between albums with the hard-hitting EP, ”Call of the Wild” that comes with a distinct taste of an unrepentantly classic flavor.

Deströyer 666 don’t do whiny nostalgia but simply stick to their old school roots, which are reaching straight down into the golden age of metal while allowing themselves to sound fresh and remain relevant.

The band originally started out as a solo project of Bestial  Warlust guitarist KK in Australia in 1994. As early as with debut album ”Unchain the Wolves” (1997)  fast-tracked towards international acclaim.

The even stronger second full-length, ”Phoenix Rising” (2000) had the Australians relocating to Europe to be able to satisfy the soaring demand for touring and festival shows. After a round of line-up changes, third full length ”Cold Steel… For an Iron Age” (2002) cemented the band’s excellent reputation.

After a hiatus caused among other issues by disenchantment with the business,  Deströyer 666 returned with ”Defiance” in 2009 and followed up on this success with the rough and gritty ”Wildfire” seven years later that saw them touring and performing at all the relevant metal festivals worldwide on a regular basis again.

”Call of the Wild” comes with three fresh tracks and the revisited classic, “Trialed by Fire”, which was first published on ”Terror Abraxas” (2003). Now come and get yours!

Accuser releases lyric video for second song ”Time for Silence”!

German Thrash legends Accu§er will release their new album ”The Mastery” January 26th via Metal Blade Records!

Statement of the band the new album:

2017 has been quite busy for us, as we wanted to come back with a bang and to present you a more than decent follow up to ‘The Forlorn Divide’. For us, ‘The Mastery’ is the essence of what Accu§er is all about. It definitely feels like the angry newborn child of ‘Who dominates Who’ and ‘Repent’. We just hope all you thrashers out there are going to enjoy this record as much as we do!

Afterwards, point your browser at metalblade.com/accuser to watch the video for the first single ‘Mission Missile’ – at the same location you can pre-order the album in the following formats:

–jewel case-CD
–180g black vinyl
–aubergine marbled vinyl (EU exclusive – limited to 200 copies)
–black purple splattered vinyl (EU exclusive – limited to 100 copies)
–pastel pink/violet marbled vinyl (US exclusive – limited to 160 copies)

 Tracklist:
01. Mission: Missile
02. The Real World
03. Solace in Sorrow
04. Time for Silence
05. My Skin
06. Catacombs
07. Mourning
08. Ruthless
09. Into the Black
10. The Mastery

Accu§er has been in a constant songwriting mode all over last year. Combined with the energy and spontaneity from several live shows the songs came together very quickly.

Together with longtime producer Martin Buchwalter they put together the record in the summer of 2017 at well-known Gernhart Studio (DestructionTankard and many more).

For the band ”The Mastery”, is some kind of missing link between the technical virtuosity of an album like ‘Who Dominates Who’ and the more basic, heavy approach of ‘Repent’. Best of both worlds so to say and not only for the band the best album since their comeback in 2008. ”The Mastery” contains all of the elements that define the Accu§er sound: heavy, chunky thrash riffs, aggressive vocals with a touch of melody – in addition to the high-class guitar solos by youngster Dennis Rybakowski. When it comes to the lyrical side of their songs, Accu§er still raises their voices to denounce social grievances.

Accu§er line-up:
Frank Thoms – vocals/guitars
Dennis Rybakowski – guitars
Frank Kimpel – bass
Olli Fechner – drums

Allegaeon launches cover of Rush’s ”Animate” on all digital music services!

During the recording sessions for ‘Proponent for Sentience‘, Denver, CO’s Allegaeon recorded two Rush covers. Fans have already heard ”Subdivisions”, which was included on the album and has since become the band’s most streamed track on Spotify. Today, in celebration of January 6, 2018, the date version of the band’s song ”1.618”,  Allegaeon is releasing their cover of ”Animate” worldwide on all digital music services. Listen to the song and stream/download from your preferred provider here: smarturl.it/allegaeon-animate

Guitarist Greg Burgess stated this about the cover:

When we settled on Rush to cover during the ‘Proponent’ sessions, I simply couldn’t pick which song to do. ‘Subdivisions’ or ‘Animate.’ Both were favorites for me personally, and both were sort of ‘under the radar’ eg. not ‘Tom Sawyer’ or ‘Spirit of the Radio.’ Where the original idea was to do a cover for a Japanese bonus track, we figured if we did both we could cover a special song for both the Japan AND Europe pressing. Then the powers that be decided to just include ‘Subdivisions’ on the album, and keep ‘Animate’ in reserve for something. Jan 6th, 2018 is the only occurrence of the golden ratio in date form that will occur during our life time. So 1.6.18 seemed like the perfect date to release it in Allegaeon fashion.

Proponent for Sentience was released in September of 2016. The album was produced by Dave Otero (Cattle Decapitation) and is a complex, intelligent, and absorbing concept record that can rightfully sit alongside the true greats of the medium. Allegaeon will begin recording their fifth full-length album with Otero at Flatline Audio in March.

Tom Angelripper splits up with Bernemann and Makka of Sodom!

The New Year has started with a bang for all Sodom fans.
Vocalist/Bassist Tom Angelripper has split up with guitarist Bernd “Bernemann” Kost and drummer Markus “Makka” Freiwald.
Statement of the Vocalist/bassist Tom about his slip up with the band:
“After much thought and reflection, I have decided on this difficult step to pave the way for new challenges,” Sodom has always lived off the commitment and passion of everybody involved. Makka was part of the band for almost eight years, Bernemann even for more than twenty. To obviate a possible routine setting in which would make it impossible to continue our creative work optimally, I would like to start all over again with fresh and hungry musicians. At the same time, I would like to say thank you to Bernemann and Makka for many successful years in which we performed fantastic shows and released a number of real metal manifestos.”I haven’t really made up my mind in this respect, I’m open to all options. I will now install the band’s new foundation pillars and look around for new musicians. One thing is already clear: Sodom will become even stronger!SPV also look forward to our future collaboration and can expect a totally motivated band.”
Regardless of this spectacular line-up change, all scheduled Sodom shows will take place from April 2018 as announced. Tom is set to introduce his new comrades-in-arms at the Full Metal Mountain.
Whether Sodom will continue to operate as a trio or perhaps become a quartet in future remains unclear.
Together with his new line-up, Tom wants to start working on the upcoming album to be released on Steamhammer/SPV as soon as possible.

SEPTICFLESH by Stella Mouzi

The demons of winter will first be summoned in the Bavarian city of Munich on January 4th and will continue to raise hell in 10 more countries until a final black ceremony at the MS Connexion Complex in Mannheim, Germany on the 27th of January.

SepticFleshare painting an apocalyptic vision and make full use of their impressive musical palette consisting of death metal and orchestral colors on their tenth full-length  ”Codex Omega”.

From their alpha EP ”Temple of the Lost Race” that was released one year after their founding in 1990, the Greek musicians have pushed the limits of the metal genre and continued to explore new sonic path with every following release from their debut album ”Mystic Places of Dawn” (1994) to the stunning ‘Sumerian Daemons’ (2003), which have in the meantime all been re-issued by Season of Mist.

Yet  SepticFlesh had clearly come into their own sound when they unleashed their celebrated comeback album after a five-year hiatus that re-charged their artistic batteries. ”Communion” (2008) offered a well-balanced amalgamation of metal elements that were freely drawn from the darker side of the genre including death, black, and gothic metal with epic orchestral arrangements. This symphonic excellence was based on guitarist Christos Antoniou bringing to bear the fruits of his academic studies of classical composition, which he passed with honours and distinction.

With a clear musical compass to navigate, SepticFlesh continued to explore their sound and the compositional possibilities of this new-found metal continent. ”The Great Mass” (2011) and ”Titan” (2014) saw the Greeks evolving at fast speed and at the same time gathering adherents as well as critical praise in ever growing numbers. Extended touring on both sides of the Atlantic and performances at about every important festival further consolidated the bands burgeoning status.

Although the biblical omega marks the end, SepticFleshon the contraryare reaching their current peak with ”Codex Omega”, an album that clearly witnesses the Greek visionaries having come to maturity and expert craftsmanship in every sense.

SEPTICFLESH collector's box version 1

Septicflesh are the undisputable masters of symphonic death metal and ”Codex Omega”is the perfect proof for this bold statement.
