In the dirt where fallen icons lay to rest, the maggots and seeds spawned in 2014 a new creation. This took the ugly form of LIK, which fittingly means corpse in Swedish. An un-dead creation which offers a plate of savory old school death metal.
Metal Blade Records welcomes LIK to their roster.
Statement of the band about the collaboration with Metal Blade Records: “The huge impact Metal Blade has had on the scene is something you can’t overlook and being a part of this family is a ‘pinch yourself to see if you’re dreaming’ scenario! We can’t stress enough about how psyched we are and it’s just another sign that no-frills death metal is still alive and breathing!”
Walking the earth for three cold winters, and with the first offer named ”Mass Funeral Evocation”, it’ll have a sister released in May of 2018.
LIK has no passage as this entity is devoted to make a permanent mark on those who lay down their souls to Rock’n’Roll. The possessed souls to carry out the sonics are Tomas Åkvik (Guitar/Vocals), Niklas Sandin (Guitar/Bass) and Christofer Barkensjö (Drums).
During the recording sessions for ‘Proponent for Sentience‘, Denver, CO’s Allegaeon recorded two Rush covers. Fans have already heard ”Subdivisions”, which was included on the album and has since become the band’s most streamed track on Spotify. Today, in celebration of January 6, 2018, the date version of the band’s song ”1.618”, Allegaeon is releasing their cover of ”Animate” worldwide on all digital music services. Listen to the song and stream/download from your preferred provider here: smarturl.it/allegaeon-animate
Guitarist Greg Burgess stated this about the cover:
“When we settled on Rush to cover during the ‘Proponent’ sessions, I simply couldn’t pick which song to do. ‘Subdivisions’ or ‘Animate.’ Both were favorites for me personally, and both were sort of ‘under the radar’ eg. not ‘Tom Sawyer’ or ‘Spirit of the Radio.’ Where the original idea was to do a cover for a Japanese bonus track, we figured if we did both we could cover a special song for both the Japan AND Europe pressing. Then the powers that be decided to just include ‘Subdivisions’ on the album, and keep ‘Animate’ in reserve for something. Jan 6th, 2018 is the only occurrence of the golden ratio in date form that will occur during our life time. So 1.6.18 seemed like the perfect date to release it in Allegaeon fashion.”
”Proponent for Sentience” was released in September of 2016. The album was produced by Dave Otero (Cattle Decapitation) and is a complex, intelligent, and absorbing concept record that can rightfully sit alongside the true greats of the medium. Allegaeon will begin recording their fifth full-length album with Otero at Flatline Audio in March.
In advance of their massive European tour, SepticFlesh are now revealing a pro-shot clip for the track “Martyr” taken from their latest masterpiece, ”Codex Omega”, which has been directed by long-time collaborator Jon Simvonis.
The Band stated this about the music video and the song:
“We are welcoming the new year by releasing the second video from our latest album, ‘Codex Omega’ – this time for the song, ‘Martyr’. Once again the clip is directed by Jon Simvonis, blending the music of SepticFlesh with Kendo, which literally means ‘the way of the sword’. It is a battle of sword and spirit. The ultimate goal of the fighter is to become superior to his own previous self.”
Director Jon Simvonis adds this about the music video:
“We really had an awesome time filming SepticFlesh while they were delivering an explosive performance for the ‘Martyr’ video! No wonder, why this band nails it on every stage that they set foot on.”

SepticFleshare painting an apocalyptic vision and make full use of their impressive musical palette consisting of death metal and orchestral colors on their tenth full-length ”Codex Omega”.
From their alpha EP ”Temple of the Lost Race” that was released one year after their founding in 1990, the Greek musicians have pushed the limits of the metal genre and continued to explore new sonic path with every following release from their debut album ”Mystic Places of Dawn” (1994) to the stunning ‘Sumerian Daemons’ (2003), which have in the meantime all been re-issued by Season of Mist.
Yet SepticFlesh had clearly come into their own sound when they unleashed their celebrated comeback album after a five-year hiatus that re-charged their artistic batteries. ”Communion” (2008) offered a well-balanced amalgamation of metal elements that were freely drawn from the darker side of the genre including death, black, and gothic metal with epic orchestral arrangements. This symphonic excellence was based on guitarist Christos Antoniou bringing to bear the fruits of his academic studies of classical composition, which he passed with honours and distinction.
With a clear musical compass to navigate, SepticFlesh continued to explore their sound and the compositional possibilities of this new-found metal continent. ”The Great Mass” (2011) and ”Titan” (2014) saw the Greeks evolving at fast speed and at the same time gathering adherents as well as critical praise in ever growing numbers. Extended touring on both sides of the Atlantic and performances at about every important festival further consolidated the bands burgeoning status.
Although the biblical omega marks the end, SepticFleshon the contraryare reaching their current peak with ”Codex Omega”, an album that clearly witnesses the Greek visionaries having come to maturity and expert craftsmanship in every sense.
Septicfleshare the undisputable masters of symphonic death metal and ”Codex Omega”is the perfect proof for this bold statement.
Russian death/thrashers Pokerface have released a music video to “The World Is Yours”, a Swedish melodic death legends Arch Enemy a cover song. The guest lead guitar was played by Lisaveta Schtoltz.
My personal opinion about this cover is that is different in many ways, but the vocals of Alexandra Orlova is just amazing and brutal as hell, with the unique combination of the clean vocals, it’s not technically perfect as the original song, but it has that crazy insane thrash metal vibe and thrash metal influence, pure destruction, rage and anger, amazing cover and the vocals.
Video production, post-production, and effects: Dmitry Morsus (Amorsus Studio)
Location: Sunlight studio, Moscow
Recording, mastering, and mixing: Konstantin Vihrev

The band was created in Moscow in 2013. Doctor (drums) and Dietrich (guitar) organized a group with an ironic name Pokerface. The band got over some changes of musicians, but it has never stopped to work intensively in the studio and on stage and finally had crystallized its unique style.
Pokerface shared the stage with such famous bands as Sodom, Onkel Tom, Sister Sin, Knorkator, Sepultura, Overkill, Claustrophobia, Children of Bodom, Vader, Megadeth, Kreator, Death DTA and Infected Rain.

Thematically, the album takes off into outer space, the world of dreams, and philosophic musings on time and space. The album’s seven songs and two instrumental tracks are permeated with the mysteries of the universe, both in lyrical content and concept and in the music itself. This theme is further brought to life by the magnificent art of Zbigniew M. Bielak that adorns the front cover.

Gorguts’ latest, highly acclaimed latest EP ”Pleiades’ Dust”, which consists of one epic track is still available in various formats via the Season of Mistshop.
The artwork of the EP that contains only its epic title track was created by renowned Polish artist Zbigniew M. Bielak
Canada’s long-running and much-loved craftsmen of technical death metal are returning with a 33-minute song. Entitled ” Pleiades’ Dust ” this complex, image-evoking, and masterly arranged eponymous track fills an entire EP. Expect the unexpected, when it comes to Gorguts.
In an age of a postulated clash of cultures, mastermind Luc Lemay delivers a piece of music that is conceptually and lyrically based on the ”House of Wisdom”, a medieval library based in Baghdad and at the heart of the Golden Age of Islam with its many scientific breakthroughs in various fields of learning.
Vocalist and Guitarist Luc stated this:
“It is a story about curiosity, beautiful minds and sadly, about how man destroys great discoveries and achievements.” Musically there is more narrative feeling as each section is introduced in such a way that every riff has the space to evolve like a character in a story.”
Few extreme bands can boast the pedigree of Gorguts. During their early days as part of death metal’s first wave, they created a legacy of legendary releases including their debut album ”Considered Dead ”(1991) and its more experimental and technical follow-up ”Erosion of Sanity” (1993). After a hiatus of five years, Luc Lemay returned with a new line-up, which released the highly acclaimed and seminal third full-length ”Obscura”(1998). By then Gorguts had been busy at expanding and redefining the language of death metal. With a new line-up that left Lemay as the sole original member, the next milestone album was released under the title ”From Wisdom to Hate ” (2001).
Yet again the band went into hibernation, while their musical legacy continued to inspire and thrive as their native Quebec became a focus for technical death metal with acts such as Cryptopsy, Neuraxis, and Beyond Creation to name but a few following in their footsteps. After more than a decade of silence, mastermind Luc Lemay unleashed ”Colored Sands” (2013) with an all-star line-up including Colin Marston(Behold The Arcotpus), Kevin Hufnagel (DYSRHYTHMIA), and John Longstreath (Origin, Skinless), who has in the meantime been replaced by Patrice Hamelin (Quo Vadis, Beneath The Massacre).
Now Gorguts return with their most experimental song so far that combines all their virtues into one massive masterpiece. Lean back and listen carefully!
