SepticFlesh release music video for “Martyr” in advance of European tour!

In advance of their massive European tour, SepticFlesh are now revealing a pro-shot clip for the track “Martyr” taken from their latest masterpiece, ”Codex Omega”, which has been directed by long-time collaborator Jon Simvonis.

The Band stated this about the music video and the song:
“We are welcoming the new year by releasing the second video from our latest album, ‘Codex Omega’ – this time for the song, ‘Martyr’. Once again the clip is directed by Jon Simvonis, blending the music of SepticFlesh with Kendo, which literally means ‘the way of the sword’. It is a battle of sword and spirit. The ultimate goal of the fighter is to become superior to his own previous self.”
Director Jon Simvonis adds this about the music video:
“We really had an awesome time filming SepticFlesh while they were delivering an explosive performance for the ‘Martyr’ video! No wonder, why this band nails it on every stage that they set foot on.”

SEPTICFLESH by Stella Mouzi

The demons of winter will first be summoned in the Bavarian city of Munich on January 4th and will continue to raise hell in 10 more countries until a final black ceremony at the MS Connexion Complex in Mannheim, Germany on the 27th of January.

SepticFleshare painting an apocalyptic vision and make full use of their impressive musical palette consisting of death metal and orchestral colors on their tenth full-length  ”Codex Omega”.

From their alpha EP ”Temple of the Lost Race” that was released one year after their founding in 1990, the Greek musicians have pushed the limits of the metal genre and continued to explore new sonic path with every following release from their debut album ”Mystic Places of Dawn” (1994) to the stunning ‘Sumerian Daemons’ (2003), which have in the meantime all been re-issued by Season of Mist.

Yet  SepticFlesh had clearly come into their own sound when they unleashed their celebrated comeback album after a five-year hiatus that re-charged their artistic batteries. ”Communion” (2008) offered a well-balanced amalgamation of metal elements that were freely drawn from the darker side of the genre including death, black, and gothic metal with epic orchestral arrangements. This symphonic excellence was based on guitarist Christos Antoniou bringing to bear the fruits of his academic studies of classical composition, which he passed with honours and distinction.

With a clear musical compass to navigate, SepticFlesh continued to explore their sound and the compositional possibilities of this new-found metal continent. ”The Great Mass” (2011) and ”Titan” (2014) saw the Greeks evolving at fast speed and at the same time gathering adherents as well as critical praise in ever growing numbers. Extended touring on both sides of the Atlantic and performances at about every important festival further consolidated the bands burgeoning status.

Although the biblical omega marks the end, SepticFleshon the contraryare reaching their current peak with ”Codex Omega”, an album that clearly witnesses the Greek visionaries having come to maturity and expert craftsmanship in every sense.

Black metal madness and destruction in some true crushing style!

On November 6th Norwegian Black metal maniacs Gorgoroth demolish the hall of The Quarter at Novi Sad with Czech black metal band Sekhmet, Greek thrash metal band Amken and the second Norwegian legends of black metal Gehenna.

This show was something special full of energy, the sound was perfect, all four bands were technically perfect and the crowd enjoyed every minute of the show and of course, Gorgoroth showed their perfect balance with their crushing sound added with some touch of pure evil and darkness.

The first support act to play on the stage was Czech black metal band Sekhmet. What I like about this guys is how they’ve entertained the crowd all the time they had that pure destructive energy in their performance, on each songs the crowd reacted very good, the crowd was enjoying fully the concert. I can say this is one of the rare band’s that can present pure raw black metal music in such a devastating way, I love the part when the guy with a gas mask came to the stage it was incredible, so the band played their songs and went off the stage and the second support act can demonize the stage.

The second band to play was Greek thrash metal band Amken. These guys are pure old school underground thrash metal, they presented this genre of metal in the best possible way, the technical part was beyond amazing, they were so into it, that you can see their souls in the guitars. They greeted the crowd few times, they were there to kick some ass with some good metal music, well they were not in so good position, because mainly the crowd were black metal fans, but they enjoy it they saw their talent and their fierce kickass energy, which is great that one thrash metal band can stand side by side with other bands that are completely different genre of metal.  The crowd enjoyed the show, and it was time for the band to leave the stage, they were satisfied with the reactions of the crowd.

The third band to play was Norwegian black metal monsters Gehenna. This band are the pure masters of the black metal genre, technically they are the best band on the show, every sound and riff were so accurate and precise. The first song that they played was ”Adimirion Black” and of course the crowd went crazy when they started playing the first song and the madness went on through the whole show. The second song that they played was ”Devils Work”, the third one was ”Abbatoir”. the fourth was ”Angelmaker”, the crowd gets crazier and crazier as the time passes went’s on, the fifth song was ”Death To Them All” and the mayhem was present in the audience when they heard this song, the six was ”Nine Circles of Torture”. the seventh ”Werewolf”, the eight was ”Ad Arma”, the nine-song was ”Pallbearer”, the ten-song was ”New Blood” and the last song was ”Serene Faces”, the band blow up the stage they were amazing, but the negative side was that they left without a word, they just left the fans without thanking  for being there, as a black metal band this is not some unusual thing, it just my personal opinion about it. The time has come for the legends to take over the stage the main act

The Black metal legends Gorgoroth came to the stage, the ovations and euphoria were beyond amazing.

I can say about their show that is was brutal and great as hell itself, the vocalist Hoest  of the band Taake showed his impressive vocal skills and that he can have a fucking awesome time on the stage, he was possessed basically, the screams and the performance left the fans in the hypnotized state of mind, they truly enjoyed the show. The band played songs from their last album ”Instinctus Bestialis”, the crowd reacted good to the songs, but they were waiting for the older stuff from the band and they played it for them with some killing riffs and brutality in their eyes. They played some old songs that are very known to the crowd and they reacted every time like they were possessed by the sound with full darkness in their eyes, hypnotized in every way. The best reactions were to the song ”Destroyer” and it was one of their last song on the show, they were mosh pits, headbanging, and singing, it was magical. The time has come for the band to end the show and they did in the black metal style they gave the crowd the best they can.

This show was an amazing experience for all the fans of the genre. It was unique and a fucking good time. Black metal apocalypse dominated the club and Gorgoroth showed the way they are legends, Long live black metal and metal music.

Rotting Christ  have stood the test of time. ”Rituals” is an album that has obviously been written by veterans. The Greek legends inject a 27 years career, 12 albums, and more than 1.200 shows into their songwriting.

With confidence and skills derived from experience, each song represents its own sonic universe. Guitarist and vocalist Sakis Tolis in collaboration with his brother Themis on drums achieve a perfect balance of amalgamating their classic and unique style of riffing and rhythm with exciting new elements sprinkled in to keep their material exciting and fresh. Carefully chosen guests are being added for better effect, not name dropping such as the spoken words of Nick Holmes(Paradise Lost) on “A Voice Like Thunder” or Samael’s  Vorph mesmerizingly quoting from Charles Baudelaire’s “Les Fleurs Du Mal” throughout the song “Les Litanies De Satan“. Goosebumps moments such as these are liberally sprinkled throughout the record, which manages the feat to sound rock solid and made out of one heavy piece as well as diverse and far ranging at the same time.

The experienced is enhanced by Jens Bogren’s equally clear and transparent yet also massive as well as sombre mix and mastering at his widely renowned Fascination Street Studios (Amorphis, Borknagar, Moonspell, Devin Towsend, and many more).

A mature album such as ”Rituals” comes with a history. Rotting Christ were founded as early as 1987 by Sakis Tolis and his brother Themis. They started out playing death/grind, but had already turned to darker paths by the time their debut full-length ”Thy Mighty Contract”(1993) was unleashed.

On the following seven albums covering a ten year period from ”Non Serviam” (1994) to ”Sanctus Diavolos”(2004),  Rotting Christ steadily refined their style by experimenting with elements from death, heavy and gothic metal without betraying their black roots. At the same time the band went from underground heroes to headliner status. Yet with the highly acclaimed ”Theogonia” (2007) the Greek stalwarts added an unmistakable native element to their sound, which gave their ninth full-length a very distinctive and individual twist. With this album,  Rotting Christ had fully defined their style, to be explored with later releases.

Such a masterpiece can hardly be surpassed, but  Rotting Christ held their ground with ”’AEALO’ (2010). Their country’s rich ancient heritage was translated into the universal language of metal with added female choirs, ancient reed pipes as well as folkloristic melodies and rhythms. Their latest masterpiece ”Kata Ton Daimona Eaytoy” (2013) took this musical and lyrical concept another step further, confirming Rotting Christ’s individual sound incorporating subtle female vocals, piano, bagpipes, horns, and other means. All of these elements are expertly combined and enhanced by excellent songwriting.

Now ”Rituals’‘ marks another step in the evolution of the Greek masters. Buckle up for a fascinating musical ride through ancient cults and mythologies evoking strong feelings and firing up imagination. Metal at its best!

ROTTING CHRIST by Ester Segarra

Rotting Christ  have stood the test of time. ”Rituals” is an album that has obviously been written by veterans. The Greek legends inject a 27 years career, 12 albums, and more than 1.200 shows into their songwriting.

With confidence and skills derived from experience, each song represents its own sonic universe. Guitarist and vocalist Sakis Tolis in collaboration with his brother Themis on drums achieve a perfect balance of amalgamating their classic and unique style of riffing and rhythm with exciting new elements sprinkled in to keep their material exciting and fresh. Carefully chosen guests are being added for better effect, not name dropping such as the spoken words of Nick Holmes (Paradise Lost) on “A Voice Like Thunder” or Samael’s  Vorph mesmerizingly quoting from Charles Baudelaire’s “Les Fleurs Du Mal” throughout the song “Les Litanies De Satan“.

On the following seven albums covering a ten year period from ”Non Serviam” (1994) to ”Sanctus Diavolos” (2004),  Rotting Christ steadily refined their style by experimenting with elements from death, heavy and gothic metal without betraying their black roots.

SepticFlesh are painting an apocalyptic vision and make full use of their impressive musical palette consisting of death metal and orchestral colours on their tenth full-length  ”Codex Omega”.

Although the biblical omega marks the end, SepticFlesh on the contrary are reaching their current peak with ”Codex Omega”, an album that clearly witnesses the Greek visionaries having come to maturity and expert craftsmanship in every sense.

Septicflesh released new track and lyric video of their upcoming album ”Codex Omega” called ”Enemy of Truth”!

Septicflesh are releasing a lyric video for the third new song taken from their forthcoming tenth full-length, ”Codex Omega”, which has been scheduled for release on September 1st.

Septicflesh stated this about the the songEnemy of Truth”:

“In the past it was much easier for someone in a position of power to silence an “irritating” mouth. In our age, with the evolution of communication and the high speed that information can be spread to the 4 corners of the world, new elaborate methods are being employed. And many claim to fight in the name of truth, but essentially they fight against it… Many voices making noise vs few voices speaking clearly. Can this turn the other way around?”

Septicflesh have previously revealed the artwork, which has been created by frontman Seth and track-list of ”Codex Omega”.
