–jewel case-CD
–180g black vinyl
–dark grey marbled vinyl (EU exclusive – limited to 300 copies)
–pastel violet marbled vinyl (EU exclusive – limited to 200 copies)
–milky clear vinyl (EU exclusive – limited to 200 copies)
–transparent blue vinyl (TUTL exclusive – limited to 100 copies)
–light grey black marbled vinyl (US exclusive – limited to 200 copies)

Roughly translated as ”Body of the mist”,Támsins likam is an attempt to create the most intriguing, honest and unique Hamferð experience yet. It is nothing less than a pinnacle; a culmination of many years of refining both sound and songwriting, spearheaded by a strong desire to keep progressing and expanding. This has resulted in an album bustling with elements ancient and familiar, violent and strange, earthen and spectral – all the while fiercely seeking to surprise and move the listener.

Once again recorded in Studio Bloch in the Faroe Islands, but this time mixed by the legendary Swedish sound wizard Daniel Bergstrand in his Dugout Productions studio, Támsins likam’ exhibits a rawer and more mature version of the known Hamferð sound. The somewhat harsh and bare soundscape deliberately contrasts with the refined compositions, while at the same aligning with the increasingly honest and violent lyrical content.

“Faroese doom metal” is a powerful sound. Exclusive to this self-styled tag is Hamferð. For a near decade, the funeral dressed sextet has been casting a unique expression rooted in conceptual tragedy and intense, narrative doom metal.

Faroese history and folklore are mixed together with grand atmospheres, a trademark that has earned worldwide attraction. Stages at festivals such as Inferno, Midgardsblot, Tuska, Summer Breeze, Wacken and much more have been turned into funerary ceremonies.

Touring with bands like Amorphis and Moonsorrow has further garnered the band a respected reputation due to strong yet solemn live performances.

The lyrical and conceptual approach is ambitious in scope. People are drawn to it, even though the band sings in their native tongue, Faroese. With a highly engaging idea concerning lyrics and songwriting, the hour has arrived to close a conceptual trilogy which commenced with the 2010 EPVilst er síðsta fet’, continued with the internationally acclaimed 2013 full-length album ”Evst, and is now concluded with ”Támsins likam”.

Tracklist:

For all its beauty, Iceland can be a sinister place where furious elements rage teaching fear but also inspiring human creativity. Hailing from the village of ”Hveragerði” in the south of the volcanic island,  Auðn are the latest offspring from the burgeoning black metal scene in this land of ice and snow to set their dark sails for foreign shores.

With their second full-length, ”Farvegir Fyrndar” (literally meaning “Ancient Riverbeds“, with a long tail of untranslatable subtext),Auðn  continue their fast ascent. Unlike the majority of their blackened brethren from the country’s capital Reykjavik, this young band does not base its sound more or less on Deathspell Omega worship, but rather reaches back to a more classic second generation black metal approach for inspiration.

Auðn deliver haunting melodies and beautifully frozen atmospheres – as opposed to the jarring and caustic blunt force trauma that has brought this remote place in the Northern Atlantic to the black metal forefront of late.

Founded in the bleak winter of 2010, Auðn ‘s talent was quick to be recognised. The band got invited to Iceland’s main metal event, the Eistnaflug Festival and won the local Wacken Metal Battle contest in 2016, while making it to the top 3 at the main event. Performances at the prestigious Inferno and Roadburn Festivals followed in 2017.

With ”Farvegir Fyrndar”,  Auðn not only demonstrate the impressive progress of their songwriting skills but also deliver a clear definition of their very own black sound. Warning: this album grows with every spin and will take a long time to even come close to any limit!

Line-up:

Aðalsteinn Magnússon – guitar
Andri Björn Birgisson – guitar
Hjalti Sveinsson – vocals
Hjálmar Gylfason – bass
Sigurður Kjartan Pálsson – drums

Auðn released new song called ”Skuggar”!

Auðn are currently streaming the second fascinating track ”Skuggar” taken from their forthcoming album, ‘Farvegir Fyrndar”, which is slated for release on November 10th.

Auðn stated this about the new song

“We are proud to present the second track taken from our forthcoming album, ”Farvegir Fyrndar”. ”Skuggar” was hard to write although the song appears to be relatively simple. There was tension when we created the track, which adds another new element to our sound. ”Skuggar” turned out to be melodic, bleak, and dark which represents the feeling and meaning of the lyrics that revolve around a journey into the afterlife, and the disappointment on reaching that destination.”

Alternating between post-rock vibes and black metal atmospheres, the album explores fantasy writer Patrick Rothfuss‘ theory on the mind’s abilities to cope with pain, by weaving it together with over 100 year old lamentations on human existence by early 20th century Icelandic existentialist poet Jóhann Sigurjónsson. The combination of the two writers’ thoughts is embodied in the union of the drive of black metal with more traditional soundscapes of acoustic guitar, accordion, flute and bouzouki. Artwork by Metaztasis (Watain, Behemoth).
